On August 13, 2024, at the Evolution New Generation event, Geely’s premium brand Zeekr introduced the 2025 model year of its flagship electric sedan, the 2025 Zeekr 007. This updated version brings several exciting enhancements, including the second generation of the Golden Battery, faster acceleration, an advanced intelligent cockpit, and new wheel design options.
Key Updates to the 2025 Zeekr 007
Since its initial launch a few months ago, the Zeekr 007 has been available with two different battery options: a 75 kWh Golden Battery and a 100 kWh CATL Qilin battery, the latter being a ternary lithium battery optimized for ultra-fast 5C charging.
The most significant update comes with the second-generation Golden Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery developed in-house by Zeekr. The charging speed has been improved from 4.5C to 5.5C, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes, nearly five minutes faster than the first generation.
Zeekr claims that the new Golden Brick Battery is now faster than most ternary lithium batteries, making it the world’s fastest mass-produced battery. This upgrade positions the 2025 Zeekr 007 equipped with the Golden Battery as the fastest-charging mass-produced EV. Like its predecessor, the second-generation battery has undergone extreme safety tests, including being thrown into a 1000°C fire and then reinstalled in the car without any damage.
In addition to the battery upgrade, the 2025 Zeekr 007 boasts enhanced acceleration thanks to a refined algorithm. The rear-wheel-drive versions now accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds, down from 5.4 seconds.
The standard all-wheel-drive version sees its time reduced from 3.5 to 3.4 seconds. The performance version remains unchanged with a blistering time of 2.84 seconds. Impressively, the algorithm update will also be available as an OTA (over-the-air) update for existing models, allowing current owners to enjoy the improved performance.
New Features and Technologies
The 2025 Zeekr 007 comes equipped with the Haohan 2.0 intelligent driving system, which integrates Lidar and visual data for enhanced driving capabilities. Powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips delivering 508 TOPS of computing power, the system can manage over 30 types of complex intersections with a success rate of more than 95%. The system introduces 1,000 new traffic scenarios, improving recognition accuracy by over 120%.
A notable new feature is remote parking via a drag-and-drop icon, allowing users to mark a temporary parking spot. Additional updates are expected over the coming months, culminating in a door-to-door autonomous driving capability in the first quarter of 2025.
The operating system has been upgraded to Zeekr OS AI, enabling voice control of all car systems from anywhere in the cabin. The system can also make proactive suggestions based on the driving scenario, such as reminding the driver to recharge the car or adjusting the air circulation when entering a tunnel.
Design Enhancements
While the overall design remains consistent with previous models, the Zeekr 007 MY25 introduces new 20-inch and 19-inch wheel designs, featuring a sleek matte black finish. The car also debuts a new “Sky Green” exterior color, with the performance version exclusively available in a “Shadow Black” color paired with an interior accented in teal green.
Even in Scandinavia?
At the moment, we don’t know if the Zeekr 007 will also arrive in Europe. Currently, Zeekr sells the 001 (test drive here) and X (test drive here) models in Sweden and the Netherlands, with operations set to begin soon in Denmark.
