Alfa Romeo Brennero is finally the official name of the next model of the Italian famous car brand.
In fact, while the name has undergone some twists and turns during its development, recent hints from the brand suggest that the Brennero is set to make its debut in the first half of 2024.
The Name Game
Initially a front-runner in the nomenclature race, Alfa Brennero 2024 seemed to lose its standing a few months ago when Jean-Philippe Imparato dismissed it as the final name for the project, internally known as “KID.” However, a recent teaser on Alfa Romeo’s social channels has reignited speculation, cleverly incorporating geographical coordinates related to the Brennero mountain pass, between Italy (South-Tyrol) and Austria – such as Stelvio.
The first significant leak, unintentionally shared on social media by an infotainment interface designer, has given us a sneak peek into the Brennero’s design. While leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, they provide valuable insights into what to expect.
The front fascia stands out, featuring a captivating design with distinctive LED elements, a trilobo Alfa Romeo emblem, and a broad lower grille that accentuates the sporty aesthetic. The rear boasts Teledial-inspired wheel design, contrasting color schemes, and horizontal taillights with a three-element graphic.
Examining the instrument cluster offers further insights into the Alfa Romeo Brennero’s potential features. The display showcases various variables, including speed in both km/h and mph, a 5-speed gearbox representation, electric range, and battery status, hinting at a sophisticated and user-friendly interface.
Powertrain Options
The Alfa Romeo Brennero 2024 is set to offer both electric and mild hybrid powertrain options. The electric variant, following the footsteps of the Avenger and 600e, will boast a 156-horsepower motor. The mild hybrid version will be equipped with the 1.2-liter engine from Stellantis, delivering 100 and 136 horsepower. The inclusion of a dual-clutch 6-speed transmission is suggested by the D5 instrumentation graphic.
Built on the proven technical solutions found in the Jeep Avenger and applied to the new Fiat 600, the Alfa Romeo Brennero will roll off the production line at the Tychy plant in Poland. This choice aligns with Alfa Romeo’s commitment to quality and performance.
As the brand engaged enthusiasts in a playful social media poll, suggestions for the B-SUV’s name poured in. While Alfa Romeo has already chosen a name, the poll invited fans to guess the selected title. Some proposed names include Junior, MiTo, Brera, Tuono, Zeta, and Volta. However, the official name is yet to be unveiled, building anticipation leading up to the grand reveal in the first half of 2024.
