Stellantis officially presented Stellantis Pro One, a commercial vehicle strategy through which the automotive giant aims to achieve global leadership in the LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) market.
To accomplish this, on October 23, Stellantis Pro One unveiled a comprehensive and updated range of LCVs divided into six iconic brands: Citroën, Fiat, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall (for the british market only). Customers of these brands will benefit from new advantages offered by an integrated business that encompasses vans, pickups, light quadricycles for mobility solutions, connected vehicle technologies, and a complete commercial partnership.
Stellantis to become the leading LCV producer
Stellantis Pro One’s LCV business currently constitutes one-third of Stellantis’ net revenues, with 1.6 million units sold annually. Stellantis Pro One aims to further increase this trend, assisting the group in achieving the goals outlined in the Dare Forward 2030 plan. These goals include doubling net revenues from LCV sales compared to 2021, reaching a 40% sales mix of electric vehicles, and generating 5 billion euros in service revenue.
To achieve these objectives, Stellantis Pro One has introduced a refreshed range of largely zero-emission vehicles, including a hydrogen solution and a comprehensive ecosystem. This ecosystem encompasses 20,000 contact points worldwide, as well as the Free2move Charge charging network, which offers customers energy management options and includes hardware, software, installation, and financial services provided by Stellantis Financial Services.
Additionally, one of the goals is to establish a digital ecosystem for vehicle upfitting and transformations to reduce delivery and execution times.
2nd generation products
As part of the Stellantis Pro One launch on Monday, October 23, a completely updated range of vans for each brand was presented. These vans feature second-generation zero-emission powertrains, an exclusive hydrogen solution, complete connectivity, and high-level autonomous driving assistance systems.
Highlighting the importance of retrofitting, Stellantis Pro One, drawing on its experience in Circular Economy, is experimenting with a retrofit program with Qinomic to extend the life of thermally powered van fleets by converting them to electric power.
The new range consists of 12 vehicles, including compact, medium-sized, and large options, all equipped with second-generation electrified powertrains, safety features, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and connectivity to create a stress-free environment for drivers.
These versatile vehicles offer ranges of up to 330 km for compact models, up to 350 km for medium-sized ones, and up to 420 km for larger models, thanks to battery packs ranging from 40 to 110 kWh. Fast charging is available, with the ability to reach 80% charge in less than an hour in all cases, with charging rates of up to 150 kW.
The strategy also looks toward fuel cell technology, set to be launched in mid-2024, offering up to 400 km of range for medium-sized vehicles and up to 500 km for larger ones, with refueling times of just five minutes.
For the driver, the van range includes:
- A new generation of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) to enhance productivity and safety.
- Large and intuitive instrument clusters and displays with customization options.
- Dynamic Surround Vision using external cameras to improve visibility in congested traffic.
- Wireless connectivity to keep drivers informed and fleet managers in touch with their vehicles.
- Affordable service packages and over-the-air updates.
- Smartphone Stations in compact vans, connecting to a dedicated app that serves as the vehicle’s control center.
- Level 2 assisted driving in larger vans, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go, Lane Centering, and Traffic Jam Assist.
- Full LED headlights for optimal vision and safety.
- e-Power Take Off (ePTO) at 400 Volts for electric vehicles, which enhances electrification without compromising payload capacity and draws energy from the traction battery instead of requiring a separate power source.
Among the new vehicles, the strategy primarily aims to strengthen its presence in North America, with the introduction of the Ram ProMaster EV by the end of 2023 and the Ram 1500 REV by the end of 2024. The Ram lineup will also include hydrogen fuel cell options.
In Europe, the commercial vehicle range includes vehicles from:
- Citroën, which focuses on providing comfort with Citroën Advanced Comfort seats.
- Fiat Professional, which utilizes a dedicated network and innovative solutions for its electric LCVs.
- Opel/Vauxhall, which emphasizes high-tech lighting technology and matrix headlights, making them one of the few LCVs to adopt this feature.
- Peugeot, which incorporates the i-Cockpit for an enhanced driving experience.
