Citroën C4 and the sedan variant C4 X have undergone a significant facelift for the upcoming year. While there haven’t been major technical changes, I can confidently say that the new C4 looks exceptionally sharp! Let’s take a closer look at the updated model.
Beautiful design
The profile remains largely unchanged, but there are new designs for the alloy wheels.
The rear of the C4 appears much more elegant with the new LED taillights positioned below the integrated rear spoiler. The C4 X distinguishes itself with its longer tail, which remains virtually unchanged, aside from the updated Citroën branding.
Inside, the facelift features Citroën Advanced Comfort seats with thicker foam padding, a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen that has been carried over from the previous model.
Range is a concern
When it comes to the engine lineup, Citroën continues to offer both gasoline and 100% electric drivetrains. However, there is a major change for the gasoline variants – they can no longer be equipped with a manual transmission. Instead, Citroën now offers only a 6- or 8-speed automatic transmission, which performs quite well. The gasoline engine remains the familiar 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, delivering either 100 hp with a 6-speed transmission or 130 hp with an 8-speed automatic. A mild-hybrid version with 136 hp will also be added to the lineup.
The electric version is available with either a 50 kWh or 54 kWh battery, providing ranges of 360 km and 425 km, respectively. Unfortunately, this doesn’t quite meet the expectations for an electric vehicle in 2025.

- 54 kWh: 156 hp, 260 Nm, 425 km WLTP
Sneak peek at the upcoming C5 Aircross
Alongside the updated C4, Citroën has also introduced a refreshed Ami and a concept that offers a sneak peek at the next generation of the C5 Aircross. In 2025, the C5 Aircross will switch to the new STLA Medium platform, already utilized by the Peugeot 3008/5008 and Opel Grandland. It will be available with gasoline, hybrid, and fully electric drivetrains, although Citroën has not yet revealed specific details about these options.
The new versions of the C4 will hit dealerships in early 2025, but you can see the car live at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
