It’s rare to see a new hot hatch these days, especially one that still runs on pure gasoline. But that hasn’t stopped Škoda from squeezing 190 horsepower out of their little Fabia: the Škoda Fabia Rally 2 Unfortunately, there’s a catch for most enthusiasts: only 100 units will be produced, and they’re exclusively for the Spanish market. What a shame!

Not an RS, but…

It’s been many years since a Škoda Fabia RS graced the lineup. The first Fabia RS appeared in the early 2000s, powered by a diesel engine. It wasn’t until the early 2010s that ŠKODA introduced a serious contender to the GTi class of small cars. Back then, the Fabia RS came with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 180 hp, paired with a 6-speed DSG transmission, which was the only available gearbox option. It was even offered as a station wagon, but despite its potential, it never became a hit. Since then, the FABIA RS has been absent from the lineup.

This new model isn’t an RS, but it certainly feels like what a 2025 Fabia RS could be. It’s called the Škoda Fabia Rally 2, a tribute to Škoda’s rally heritage, where Austrian driver José Antonio “Cohete” Suárez secured victory in a Fabia Rally2 rally car during the Rally2 series.

Under the hood is the reliable 1.5 TSi petrol turbo engine, delivering 150 hp in its standard form. However, this version has received a performance boost from Volkswagen tuner ABT, increasing the output to 190 hp and 290 Nm of torque. 40 hp and 40 Nm more than the standard variant. The 7-speed DSG transmission remains the same as in the 150 hp model, providing smooth and quick shifts.

The most expensive Fabia here

In addition to the power upgrade, the Škoda Fabia Rally 2 has been lowered by 15 mm, equipped with 17” OZ Racing Superturismo wheels, and comes fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.

As mentioned, only 100 units will be produced, and they’ll be priced from €30,900, making this the most expensive Fabia ever. The first deliveries of the Fabia Rally 2 are expected in March next year.
