In a larger edition than previous ones in terms of halls and participating brands, EICMA 2024 actually doesn’t bring many new releases. The motorcycle world is generally less subject to frequent updates, and with the absence of micromobility, which nearly stole the show in recent years, and few major two-wheel innovations, we can say this wasn’t the most exciting edition ever.
However, this doesn’t mean there’s nothing interesting. Here’s what we consider the best of EICMA 2024.
The best of Eicma 2024 in Milan, Italy
BAW
Of course, the Chinese brands are present, with motorcycles and scooters that are copies of copies of copies. But BAW stands out by using the world’s largest motorcycle and urban mobility fair to introduce its microcar.
A rival of the Citroen Ami and Fiat Topolino, as well as the XEV YoYo, the BAW1 is a boxy microcar seating four people, also available in a cargo version for freight transport. It features a small electric motor allowing a top speed of 90 km/h, a declared range of 170 km.
BMW Motorrad
EICMA 2024 marks the return of BMW Motorrad. The German manufacturer stands out, particularly with the BMW F 450 GS concept, which boasts an aggressive look and a blue-white-red color scheme (the same as BMW sports cars), reflecting a sporty and off-road identity.
Compact dimensions, elegant design, and a new inline twin-cylinder engine with 48 hp designed to meet A2 license requirements make it suitable for younger riders. Additionally, the engine structure is lighter without sacrificing robustness, making the bike agile and easy to handle.
Ducati New Panigale
There’s no two-wheel show without Ducati, the Ferrari of this sector. At EICMA, Ducati unveils the new Panigale with a 90° V2 engine and a record-breaking 4 kg monocoque frame.
In flaming red, this new Panigale is not just a downsized version but an independent model combining a sporty identity with comfort and ease of riding.
Honda CUV e: 2025
Honda’s huge booth also hosts the debut of the new Honda CUV e: 2025, one of the most high-tech scooters on the market. Equivalent to a 125 cc, it has a modern and refined design, with a 6 kW e-Drive electric motor paired with two removable batteries for a 70 km range and a top speed of 83 km/h.
Its standout feature is its connected instrumentation with Honda Roadsync Duo, and a 7″ TFT screen with navigation and charging station search.
Husqvarna’s electric Enduro
The Swedish manufacturer (the only Scandinavian one left after Cake’s bankrupt) brings several innovations to EICMA, including the Husqvarna Pioneer, an electric enduro model.
It features an 11 kW motor with a peak power of 19.2 kW and torque of 37.6 Nm, paired with a 5.5 kWh lithium battery that provides a 137 km range on the WMTC cycle, allowing for 2-3 hours of pure enduro use. It can be fully charged at home in 8 hours or from 20% to 80% in 4 hours.
Vespa 310 GTS: the most powerful af all times
No matter the year, Vespa always grabs attention. This year, Piaggio introduces the most powerful model ever, the Vespa GTS 310, with a new 310 cc engine and 25 hp, featuring an increased stroke from 63 to 70 mm and a 70% component overhaul.
It has a dedicated aesthetic, with a new blue color and orange-black graphics that highlight a more agile yet sporty ride.
Niu’s news
Chinese manufacturer Niu, one of the first to enter Europe, updates its lineup with two new electric scooters designed for fleet use, notably the Nio Fleet for delivery and logistics services. The new NQiX incorporates intelligent features, including Niu Link Crown, allowing users to customize their ride without accessing the app; it also records routes, plays media, and enables Bluetooth calls.
The new Niu FQi, according to Nio, brings “a completely different taste of electric mobility,” balancing power with accessibility, featuring a 6.4 kW motor, a 95 km/h top speed, regenerative braking, and Bluetooth-enabled smart locks for enhanced security.
Platum e-Moped 500, the 500 becomes a Scooter
Inspired by the Fiat 500 electric, Platum’s e-Moped 500 was designed by Pininfarina. It has the same “500” logo, and the round headlights are very similar to those of the Italian city car.
In metallic Italian blue, the Platum e-Moped 500 has a range of 115 km, a removable battery, and a top speed of 80 km/h for stable, secure riding.
Yamaha Nmax Line
Yamaha’s large booth showcases the new Nmax line of scooters, following the new Tmax reveal in a separate pre-EICMA event. The Yamaha Nmax 125 models feature a Euro5+ 125 cc engine with Blue Core technology, significantly reducing emissions thanks to a Start&Stop system.
A 7.1-liter tank offers a 300 km range, and with 230 mm disc brakes front and rear and ABS, it’s ideal for daily commutes. The Tech Max version offers premium features, such as a 4.2″ TFT dashboard with multi-theme options and Garmin-integrated navigation. It also comes in exclusive colors like Ceramic Grey and Dark Magma.
