Finally the upcoming Polestar 5, the standaard version of the Precept concept, is almost ready.
Combining cutting-edge technology, sustainable materials, and exhilarating performance, the Polestar 5 is set to challenge the likes of the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S, but also the Lotus Emeya.
Lightweight aluminum platform
At the heart of the Polestar 5 lies an aluminum alloy dedicated platform, developed in the R&D Centre in the UK and engineered to prioritize both lightness and rigidity. This innovative approach not only enhances performance but also underscores Polestar’s commitment to advanced engineering.
From the photos, it is noticeable that the Polestar 5, like the Polestar 4, will not feature a traditional rear window. A real shame.
Luxurious and sustainable interior
Polestar continues its dedication to sustainability by incorporating eco-friendly materials into the Polestar 5’s interior. These include recycled cork, repurposed fishing nets, plastic bottles, and flax-based composites. The result is a cabin that merges luxury with environmental responsibility.
The interior will feature options for four individual seats or a rear bench, offering flexibility for buyers who prioritize comfort or practicality.
The Polestar 5 will be equipped with dual electric motors, delivering a combined output of 884 HP. With one motor on the front axle and another on the rear, the car will feature all-wheel drive for optimal traction and stability. Polestar aims to provide exhilarating acceleration, ensuring the Polestar 5 stands as a serious contender among high-performance EVs.
Long range and fast charging
The Polestar 5 is expected to deliver over 480 kilometers of range, making it ideal for both daily commutes and longer journeys. Additionally, Polestar has tested a cutting-edge StoreDot battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes. While it’s unclear whether this groundbreaking technology will be available at launch, it highlights the brand’s forward-thinking approach.
The Polestar 5 will be manufactured in a new carbon-neutral facility in China, reflecting Polestar’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact across the production process. Although Polestar has yet to announce a specific launch date, the Polestar 5 is anticipated to arrive with a starting price of around €100,000.
