In a surprising move, Stellantis has announced the return of the legendary Dodge Charger to Europe. The fourth generation of this iconic model, replacing both the Charger and the Challenger, is set to arrive in Scandinavia by the end of 2025.

The Charger Daytona will be available in two powertrain options: fully electric and gasoline-powered. Bot no, it wan’t be its V8, which Dodge has no intention of giving up in the US.

American heritage

The new Charger Daytona will be offered in two body styles: a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan. Built on the STLA Large platform—also used for future iterations of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia—the Charger will cater to diverse preferences with its dual powertrain options.

Buyers can choose between an electric drivetrain and a turbocharged inline-six gasoline engine delivering either 420 or 550 horsepower.

The electric version of the Charger Daytona will come in two trims:

  • R/T: Featuring dual motors for a total of 496 horsepower, an estimated range of 500 km, and all-wheel drive.
  • Scat Pack: Boosting power to 670 horsepower, this version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, with a range of 380 km.

Both versions share a 100.5 kWh battery pack and all-wheel drive. There is also speculation about the high-performance SRT Banshee variant, which includes an 800-volt system and the innovative “Fratzonic” sound system. This technology produces a synthetic engine roar of 126 dB, emulating the sound of a traditional gasoline engine.

Gasoline Options for the Purists

For those who prefer traditional powertrains, the Charger Daytona will not feature the famous Hemi V8 but instead will offer the 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six turbo engine. Available in two versions—420 or 550 horsepower—this engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The Charger Daytona’s design draws inspiration from the 1968–1970 Charger, blending its classic muscle car appeal with contemporary styling. Measuring over five meters in length, the car features sleek, squared lines, smooth surfaces, and a bold front LED strip connecting the headlights. The illuminated Dodge logo sits prominently at the center of the grille. At the rear, horizontal taillights are linked by twin LED strips, and a subtle spoiler completes the sporty look.

A Muscle Car for the Modern Era

With its blend of cutting-edge electric performance, traditional gasoline power, and a design that pays homage to its storied past, the Dodge Charger Daytona is set to appeal to a wide audience. Whether you’re a fan of muscle car nostalgia or looking forward to the future of EVs, the Charger’s return to Europe is poised to make waves in the automotive world.
