When you hear the names of many Chinese car brands, it can feel like the result of creative experiments or collaboration with a numerologist. The name “Navor” is no exception. But as soon as you see the price tag on the brand’s debut model in Denmark, it’s not the name you remember – it’s the price: just 229,990 DKK for the Navor E5.

A huge car for little money

Navor is a new car brand launching in Scandinavia with Denmark as its starting point. It is part of the Chinese Dongfeng group, and the Danish importer Wismo (known for brands like Peugeot, Citroën, and Alfa Romeo) is behind its introduction. In other countries, especially in Southern Europe, Dongfeng has previously marketed cars under the name DFSK.

The Navor E5 offers an impressive package for the price. At 476 cm in length, it matches the size of a Škoda Kodiaq. For a plug-in hybrid, it features seven seats, a high level of equipment, and a price that will make many people look twice. Add to that a six-year factory warranty, and it’s hard to find anything comparable at this price point. You’d have to go back nearly 10 years to find a car offering this much space for so little money – reminiscent of when Dacia introduced the Lodgy.

What does the Navor E5 offer?

The E5 combines a 1.5-liter petrol engine with an electric motor and a CVT transmission, delivering a total output of 218 hp. The battery can provide up to 70 km of electric driving under ideal conditions, making it suitable for shorter daily trips.

However, it’s worth noting that the car is not equipped with a tow bar, and there’s currently no information on when this might become available.

Inside, the cabin comfortably accommodates up to six adults across three rows of seats, offering more space than the price suggests. Additionally, the E5 comes with a high level of standard equipment, including LED headlights, 18” alloy wheels, a sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, and a 12.3” touchscreen with wireless integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The standard color is light green, while metallic paint is available for an extra charge.

Do we dare to buy it?

Starting in February, the Navor E5 will be available at 24 dealerships across Denmark. However, the dealerships are located outside major cities, so buyers from Aarhus, Copenhagen, or Odense will need to travel to places like Grenaa, Middelfart, or Frederikshavn for a test drive.

It may seem like an unconventional time to launch a plug-in hybrid, but with a price of 229,990 DKK, the E5 positions itself uniquely in the market. The only question is, do we dare to buy it?
