In line with recent teasers, the Swedish automaker has announced the debut date for the Volvo EX30 Cross Country, the more adventurous version of its smallest SUV. The event will take place on February 10, 2025, in Swedish Lapland, a clear nod to the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.

The existence of the car has been known since the global unveiling of the EX30, which took place in Milan in 2023. At that time, Volvo showcased a prototype version of the Cross Country. Here’s what we know so far.

What we know about Volvo EX30 Cross Country

The information we have about the Volvo EX30 Cross Country is not yet official. However, some details are speculated based on other models from the group that share its platform, as well as insights from the concept car.

Design

In terms of aesthetics, the design will closely resemble the standard EX30. However, the ride height will be increased, and possibly the width as well, to ensure a more commanding road presence and accommodate wider, off-road-oriented tires.

Other expected features include reinforced hard plastic elements and likely some dedicated accessories. The interior is expected to undergo minimal changes, though a small redesign of the dashboard layout would be desirable.

Currently, the dashboard is nearly devoid of physical buttons, but some additional controls would suit the vehicle’s adventurous nature.

The infotainment system will undoubtedly include a mode dedicated to off-road driving. It’s also likely that the Volvo EX30 Cross Country will launch with new color options for both the exterior and interior.

Performance

As for performance, the powertrain will almost certainly be derived from the more powerful EX30, which already features dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, delivering a combined output of 428 hp.

While a slight power boost is possible, it’s unlikely, as this would make it the only SEA-2 platform vehicle with higher output, surpassing even the Smart #1 Brabus and Zeekr X, which are closely related to the EX30.

Instead, as a more off-road-focused vehicle, the enhancements will likely be geared toward the suspension, with options for differential control, locking mechanisms, or other specialized solutions.
