Kia has just unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the Kia EV4, which will be available in two body styles: hatchback and sedan. This marks a significant step for the South Korean automaker, as it appears ready to replace the Ceed with an all-electric model.

A fresh design

The KIA EV4 draws clear inspiration from the larger EV9 SUV with its angular design and futuristic look.

The front features slim LED headlights and a low-positioned front grille, while the rear showcases a sharp, aerodynamic profile. Reminiscent of classic hatchbacks, the EV4 will be available in both hatchback and “sedan editions.” The hatchback offers a more practical approach, while the sedan version presents a sportier appearance.

Inside, the EV4 boasts a minimalist and modern interior, where Kia focuses on a combination of premium materials and advanced technology. A large digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen dominate the cabin, while physical buttons have been minimized. Additionally, Kia promises more space and comfort thanks to the dedicated E-GMP electric vehicle platform.

Competition and expected launch

Although final specifications have not yet been released, the Kia EV4 is expected to come with multiple battery options, offering a range of up to 500 km on a single charge. It will likely include Kia 800V fast-charging technology, enabling rapid charging from 10-80% in under 20 minutes.

With the EV4, Kia seems poised to challenge popular models such as the Volkswagen ID.3, Renault Megane E-Tech, BYD Dolphin, and MG4. Meanwhile, the sedan variant positions itself as a direct competitor to the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Tesla Model 3 in terms of size and market segment. Pricing details have not yet been announced, but we can expect an attractive starting price that could make the EV4 an appealing choice for Nordic customers.

The official launch of the Kia EV4 is expected on February 27, and we at Nordiskbil are eager to see if it can live up to the legacy of the Ceed, which has been a bestseller in Europe for decades.
