In stark contrast to the past, just a few months after the launch of the electric 02, the Sino-Swedish company is ready to introduce a third model for Europe: the Lynk & Co 08.

Already on sale in China for about a year, this model is the brand’s flagship SUV. Like the 01, it features a plug-in hybrid powertrain and stands out as one of the most advanced in its category, promising around 200 km of electric-only range along with numerous advanced features. The vehicle will be officially unveiled on February 26, 2025, as announced by Lynk & Co in a teaser video posted on its social media channels, confirming the name (08) and its electric range (200 km).

Lynk & Co 08: what we know

So far, the information about the Lynk & Co 08 is based on its Chinese version. Just as the Lynk & Co 02 differs from its “twin” model Z20, we can expect some differences for the European version, especially in terms of interior design and infotainment.

The vehicle is built on the CMA Evo platform. Since the model predates Lynk & Co’s change of ownership, it shares its underpinnings with the Lynk & Co 01, Volvo XC40/EC40, and Polestar 2. However, the “Evo” designation suggests that the platform has been heavily modified to better accommodate the car’s dimensions and its advanced powertrain.

The Lynk & Co 08 is a fastback SUV that adopts the design language introduced by the concept car The Next Day, the same styling approach used on certain Zeekr models, such as the X, as well as on the Lynk & Co 02 and other vehicles in the brand’s lineup. The design retains the distinctive daytime running lights positioned above the hood, now slimmer and connected in a single element. The headlights are integrated into the hood, while the front features a nearly grille-less design, thanks to the highly efficient cooling system of its plug-in hybrid powertrain. The only air intake is located at the bottom of the bumper. At the rear, the vehicle is characterized by a unique light signature spanning its entire width.

With dimensions of 4.82 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height, along with a wheelbase of 2.8 meters, the Lynk & Co 08 closely matches the proportions of the BMW X4.

Inside, the cabin is dominated by a 15.4-inch floating central screen, accompanied by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 92-inch AR-HUD for an immersive tech experience. The Chinese version comes equipped with the Lynk Flyme Auto multimedia system, developed in collaboration with Meizu, the smartphone company acquired by Geely a few years ago. However, the European version is likely to feature a different system, similar to the updated one seen in the facelifted Lynk & Co 01 and the 02. Premium features include Nappa leather upholstery, a 50W wireless charging pad, a Harman/Kardon sound system with 23 speakers, and seats with a massage function (except for the center seat in the second row).

Under the hood, the Lynk & Co 08 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with three electric motors, delivering all-wheel drive and a total output of 436 kW (593 hp) with a maximum torque of 905 Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Its 39.6 kWh NMC battery provides 245 km of electric range under the Chinese CLTC cycle and up to 1,400 km of total range. The gasoline engine consumes 5.5 L/100 km, while the battery can be recharged from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes using a DC fast charger. This makes the Lynk & Co 08 competitive with plug-in hybrid models from Volkswagen and other German manufacturers.
