There was only supposed to be the A6 Avant e-tron. But Audi has recently changed its mind—again—about naming conventions. As a result, the new combustion-engine Audi A6 Avant will still be available and is set to be unveiled on March 4.
In the meantime, the German brand has released a teaser image revealing some design details.
What we know about the new Audi A6 Avant
With this model, Audi continues its lineup renewal initiative, which began in 2024 with the A5 and A5 Avant—successors to the A4—under the brand’s previous naming strategy, which assigned odd numbers to combustion models and even numbers to electric ones.

The modernization of Audi’s portfolio is part of the Audi Agenda strategy, a plan designed to ensure a more competitive product range in the future, particularly during a challenging period for the Volkswagen Group and the automotive industry as a whole.

From the teaser image, we can see that the car features a steeply raked rear window and the new OLED light signature, also seen on the A5. This includes a vertically segmented pattern, which then connects to a thin, continuous strip lower down.

As for powertrains, an advanced plug-in hybrid with over 100 km of electric range and fast charging is expected, alongside diesel options. However, it remains unclear whether Audi will continue to offer an RS6 Avant, one of the most successful high-performance models from the four-ring brand.
