At the Kia EV Day 2025 in Tarragona, Spain, the Korean brand launched the new Kia EV4, the first brand’s electric sedan.
The new Kia EV4 is the 4th model of the EVX family, after EV6 (read our GT test drive here), EV9 (test drive here) and EV3 (test drive here), available both in sedan and hatchback versions and with up to 630 km of range.
New Kia EV4: versatile and practical
The EV4 is designed as a dynamic all-rounder, redefining the C-segment with a new approach to aesthetics. Of course takes inspiration from the last Kia models, in particular from EV9, and is available in both sedan and hatchback configurations.

The car provides a new alternative in an EV market traditionally dominated by CUVs and SUVs.

Under the campaign slogan “Your Edge in Motion,” Kia positions the EV4 as a revolutionary new typology in the sedan and hatchback categories. It aims to appeal to the ‘Early Majority’ consumer segment, offering a blend of practicality, cutting-edge technology, and flexibility.
Performance and range
Built on Kia’s dedicated 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), like the EV3, the EV4 is available with either a 58.3 kWh standard range battery or an 81.4 kWh long range battery. Both versions power a 150 kW front-mounted motor, achieving 0-100 km/h in 7.4 and 7.7 seconds, respectively, with a top speed of 170 km/h.

Thanks to aerodynamic refinements, including a fully covered underbody, the EV4 sedan boasts an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd, enabling it to achieve up to 430 km (standard range) and 630 km (long range) on a full charge (WLTP). The hatchback variant offers a long range of 590 km.

Charging is efficient, with a 10-80% charge taking 31 minutes, so not with the ultra-fast charging times of the bigger models. Additionally, the EV4 features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities, allowing users to power external devices or even contribute energy back to the grid.
A new driving experience
The EV4’s chassis has been fine-tuned for optimal comfort and stability, featuring an EV-specialized MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link rear setup. It also introduces the industry’s first third-generation ‘SFD3’ frequency-sensitive dampers, enhancing ride comfort by minimizing vibrations and road noise.

Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 allows for seamless smartphone-based access and vehicle control, while the new i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking system improves efficiency and smoothness, even in reverse. The 30-inch Connected Car Navigation Cockpitintegrates three screens (12.3-inch, 5.3-inch, and 12.3-inch) for an advanced infotainment experience.

Kia’s Vehicle Smart TV solution takes in-car entertainment to new heights, offering access to Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, games, and even karaoke, all optimized for a 21:9 widescreen experience.

The EV4 is equipped with Kia’s latest Highway Driving Assist (HDA 2) technology, incorporating Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2, Lane Following Assist 2, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and Remote Parking Assist Entry. A 12-inch head-up display (HUD) ensures essential driving information remains within the driver’s line of sight.

Kia has engineered the EV4’s body structure for maximum protection, utilizing a multi-load path front-end structure and reinforcements to improve side-impact resistance and roof strength. The model aims for a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
Production and availability
The EV4 sedan will be manufactured at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in Korea, while the hatchback version will be produced in Slovakia, focusing on the European market. Production is set to begin in mid-2025, with both models expected to arrive in Scandinavia and the rest of Europe by Q3 2025.
