At the recent EV Day in Spain, Kia introduced the EV2 concept alongside the new Kia EV4, showcasing the brand’s vision for a fully electric B-segment SUV. The EV2 concept embodies innovation and adventure, integrating advanced connectivity technology, a spacious and flexible interior, and unique rear-hinged doors.

These features aim to enhance urban mobility, offering users “new and exciting ways to explore the city.”

Kia EV2 Concept: a B-SUV with a fresh approach

The EV2 concept is of course recognizable as part of Kia’s EV family, featuring a clean design inspired by EV9, EV3 and EV4. The front fascia boasts a modern and dynamic aesthetic with vertical daytime running lights and Kia’s signature Star Map lighting design. The open lamp structure, devoid of covering glass, creates a striking visual effect.

Despite its compact, city-friendly proportions, the EV2 concept conveys a bold and sophisticated stance. The bumpers and graphical elements along the lower body contribute to a rugged look, emphasizing its functional design and distinctive personality. The SUV’s profile balances an upscale appearance with a solid road presence, where a spacious cabin further reinforces the premium feel.

A sharp shoulder line connects the assertive front with the strong rear, showcasing technical sophistication. Robust wheel arches contrast with the geometric glass design, enhancing the vehicle’s dynamic character.

Interior design

Designed for an active urban lifestyle, the EV2 concept features a bold and vibrant interior, with sustainable materials playing a central role. As Kia’s smallest EV to date, the EV2 still projects a big personality. Its adaptable, multi-configurable interior offers a comfortable retreat from city life.

Despite its compact size, the EV2 provides a scalable interior with a foldable second-row seat. This agile B-segment SUV includes premium-class features such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.

Diagonal LED lighting on the door panels creates a striking contrast between the front and rear cabins, enhancing the modern ambiance. Additional details, such as triangular pattern lighting and an animated LED dashboard, contribute to a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere. A prominent metallic element runs across the dashboard, integrating a wireless charger and power outlet, merging functionality with aesthetic appeal.

Inspired by Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the EV2 concept blends practicality with emotional appeal. The rear seats can be folded up, allowing the front seats to slide back completely, creating a large open space for passengers. When parked, users can relax, stretch out, or even sit on the flat floor to enjoy a meal.

Eliminating the central B-pillar and incorporating rear-hinged doors significantly improve accessibility and the connection to the surroundings. With the rear seats raised, the front seats can be pushed back to serve as a lounge area.

The EV2 concept also features a pop-up trunk divider and fastening straps to secure luggage of all sizes. Additionally, Kia’s innovative message lighting enables passengers to display text messages on the vehicle’s windows, fostering interaction with pedestrians and other road users.

Advanced connectivity technology also redefines in-car audio experiences. The triangular door-mounted speakers are detachable and portable, allowing users to reposition them within the car or take them outside—perfect for enjoying music while charging the vehicle at a station.

When can we see the Kia EV2 in Scandinavia?

The production version of the Kia EV2 is expected to arrive in Denmark, Sweden and Norway in 2026, bringing many of these innovative features to urban drivers seeking a versatile and cutting-edge electric SUV.
