Mercedes has just unveiled the new generation of the Mercedes CLA, bringing a range of significant innovations.
The long appreciated model is now fully electric, although a petrol engine option will also be available later. Additionally, Mercedes promises groundbreaking range figures for its class.
Super screens!
The new CLA is one of the smallest models in Mercedes’ lineup, but in terms of design, it is more ambitious than ever. The sleek coupe silhouette now has a more streamlined look with a low roofline and an elegant rear end.

The front is dominated by a digitally inspired grille with a total of 142 illuminated Mercedes stars, while the headlights and taillights also feature star elements that reinforce the car’s brand identity.

Inside, the CLA is a technological tour de force.

The large Superscreen, as Mercedes calls it, spans most of the dashboard and combines a 10.25″ digital driver display with a 14″ infotainment screen and a 14″ passenger screen, similar to what we’ve seen in the new E-Class (althought Mercedes said screens are not luxury). Mercedes has integrated both Microsoft’s and Google’s AI technology, providing a faster user experience and allowing passengers to stream content like Disney+ directly from the passenger seat.
Up to 792 km Range
The Mercedes-Benz CLA will launch with two electric versions: the CLA 250+ and the CLA 350 4Matic.

The CLA 250+ features a single electric motor with 268 hp and 335 Nm, driving the rear wheels. It boasts an impressive WLTP range of 792 km thanks to an 85 kWh battery. The CLA 350 4Matic is an all-wheel-drive model with dual electric motors delivering a total of 349 hp and 515 Nm, offering a range of 771 km. Both models use a new battery technology that provides 20% higher energy density while reducing CO2 emissions per cell by 30%.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz has implemented a two-speed gearbox on the rear motor, which enhances efficiency and extends the vehicle’s range.
Hybrid Version on the way
Mercedes will also introduce a hybrid variant of the CLA at a later stage. This model is expected to be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine combined with a 27 hp electric motor integrated into the gearbox. This setup will allow for short-distance pure electric driving, particularly in urban areas.

The hybrid model will likely have a total output of around 250 hp, placing it firmly in the mid-range segment. AMG versions with more powerful powertrains may also be in the works, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Expected Launch Next Year
The electric versions of the Mercedes-Benz CLA are expected to arrive at dealerships by late 2025, while the hybrid models are anticipated in 2026. Mercedes has yet to announce pricing, but details will be revealed closer to launch.
The new CLA sets a benchmark not only in its segment but also as one of the longest-range EVs available. It will be exciting to learn more about this model in the coming year as it competes with cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 (test drive here). Additionally, we look forward to seeing a potential AMG version—if it indeed becomes a reality.
