Alpine A390_β is an electric fastback sports car that offers a sneak peek into the highly anticipated A390 production model. This concept car is a fusion of innovation and design, inspired by the Alpine landscape, embodying French expertise in creating high-performance sports cars.

The A390_β, the second model in Alpine’s “Dream Garage,” promises an exhilarating driving experience by combining sportiness with sustainability. Its aerodynamic design, advanced technology, and performance-focused ethos mark a new chapter for the French automaker.

A Design that celebrates sportiness and sustainability

The A390_β immediately stands out with its sporty, aerodynamic fastback design, which pays homage to Alpine’s tradition while also looking toward the future. It is designed for a custom-fit driving experience, with aesthetics that seem sculpted by the wind. The teardrop-shaped cabin achieves the perfect balance between functionality and aerodynamics, while the sculpted sides are a nod to Alpine’s dynamic DNA.

One of the most striking features is its Blu Specular paint, which shifts tones depending on the lighting, giving the car a sophisticated and high-tech look. The lighting signature, reminiscent of the Alpenglow concept, adds a futuristic touch with front and rear light elements that slice through the air like blades, enhancing both visibility and style. Below the luminous strips on the front and rear, a cluster of illuminated triangles called “Cosmic Dust” evokes the image of a comet streaking through the atmosphere.

Every detail of the A390_β has been engineered to maximize aerodynamics and boost performance. For instance, the front “flying bridge” optimizes airflow over the vehicle, while large side intakes create an air curtain that speeds up the flow around the car. The rear features an adjustable light strip that can transform from a short-tail to a long-tail design, improving aerodynamic efficiency and range.

The wheel design draws inspiration from the crystalline properties of snowflakes, being both lightweight and strong. The wheels, sized 22 inches at the front and 23 inches at the rear, are adorned with illuminated blue-tinted hubcaps, which resemble finely crafted jewelry. The transparent flange effect of the center hub, reminiscent of a thin layer of ice, highlights the Active Torque Vectoring function in the background.

Between F1 and the Alps

Inside, the A390_β offers an uncompromising driving experience. The cabin draws inspiration from the Alps, featuring two distinct worlds: the front, representing the mineral and technological realm, and the rear, symbolizing the purity of snow. The antagonistic door opening and the absence of a central pillar invite passengers to step into a unique sensory experience.

At the heart of the cockpit is a futuristic design meant to immerse the driver in a “Feel@One” experience. Behind the Formula 1-inspired steering wheel is a holographic display made up of three layers, providing 3D information to enhance the driving experience.

The compact steering wheel offers two configurations, allowing the driver to switch from everyday driving to extreme sportiness. At its center, a crystal, akin to an ice key, brings the vehicle to life, reminiscent of high mountain ice crystals. The crystal also houses the Alpine logo, seemingly set in ice.

The central console features “P-R-N-D” transmission buttons shaped like minerals, while the driver’s seat controls, located centrally, allow for a switch to “F1” mode. Drawing inspiration from a Formula 1 seat, the A390_β driver’s seat offers two driving positions—high for daily driving and an F1-like stance for maximum performance and comfort. When activated, the seat seems to levitate, providing an immersive experience, complete with Sabelt four-point harnesses inspired by Formula 1 extraction systems.

A new platform

The A390_β is far more than a design statement—it incorporates cutting-edge technologies. Powered by Alpine’s AmpR Medium electric platform, it’s designed for high-performance and exhilarating driving experiences. Its all-wheel-drive system, equipped with Active Torque Vectoring, intelligently distributes torque, optimizing cornering performance and vehicle stability.
