As per tradition, Tesla has launched its Holiday Software Update, a major seasonal upgrade introducing various new features.

The 2024 edition does not disappoint, bringing Apple Watch support, improved navigation, and even fun Christmas-themed features.

Santa-Tesla has come

The most requested feature this year is undoubtedly the ability to use the Apple Watch as a car key. Beyond unlocking and starting the vehicle, the device allows users to check the battery level and adjust the climate control directly from their wrist.

Another significant addition is the ability to access videos recorded by the car’s security cameras directly from the Tesla mobile app. Previously, this feature was only available on the car’s display. Now, owners will receive real-time notifications if someone attempts to open the car and can view the footage from anywhere.

That’s not all. Route planning has been significantly enhanced, allowing drivers to add intermediate stops such as restaurants, rest areas, or other points of interest and automatically calculate detour times.

For owners of the new Model 3, which has introduced a fully digital gear selector, an innovative function now automatically chooses the driving direction when parking or making a U-turn. The system also provides more effective warnings about pedestrians or vehicles crossing the road while reversing and automatically lowers the music volume to reduce distractions.

New games

Tesla hasn’t forgotten about fun: the update includes two new Christmas-themed light shows, which can be activated via the app. For gaming enthusiasts, a new game, Boomerang FU, is now available, where players embody foods or fruits that throw boomerangs to defeat opponents.

On the practical side, it’s now possible to adjust the passenger seat via the central display when unoccupied. Additionally, cars equipped with a rear-seat screen will now allow passengers to watch movies even while the vehicle is in motion.
