Copenhagen Airport (Københavns Lufthavn) has reported exceptional financial performance for 2024, marking a significant rebound in the aviation industry. Nearly 30 million passengers used the airport throughout the year, highlighting a robust resurgence in both business and leisure travel.
Revenue and profit surge
The airport’s annual revenue reached 5.07 billion DKK (approximately 680 million EUR), reflecting a 25% increase compared to the previous year. This surge in revenue contributed to a pre-tax profit of 1.339 billion DKK (around 180 million EUR), nearly a 1 billion DKK improvement from 2023. Christian Poulsen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S, expressed satisfaction with the results, stating,
“We see that the desire and need to travel continue to rise, and we are naturally very pleased with this.”
Sustainability considerations
While celebrating these achievements, it is important to acknowledge the environmental impact of increased air travel. The aviation industry is estimated to contribute approximately 4% to human-induced global warming. Copenhagen Airport has recognized this challenge and is actively investing in sustainable initiatives to mitigate its environmental footprint.

The positive trend in passenger numbers and financial performance positions Copenhagen Airport favorably for future growth. The airport plans to continue enhancing its infrastructure and services to meet the evolving demands of travelers while maintaining a focus on sustainability and operational excellence.
These record-breaking results not only highlight Copenhagen Airport’s resilience but also reflect the broader recovery of the global aviation sector in 2024.
