In 2023, there were confirmations, with the expansion of Born and the presentation of the plan for the coming years.
But 2024 will be full of novelties, two in particular: the Cupra Tavascan and the SUV Cupra Terramar, the latest Cupra with an internal combustion engine. In addition to these, there are also restylings of existing models, especially the best-selling Formentor and the Cupra Leon.
Cupra 2024 Lineup
2024 Cupra Formentor
Here is the queen of the brand, the first new model from Cupra that has determined its success and strong growth in recent years. We are talking about the Formentor, the sleek and sporty Coupe SUV, successful in design to the point of winning over everyone, young and old, private individuals, and fleets.
For 2024, Formentor is enriched with an even wider range of optional features, with all-season tires as standard for 18” wheels, while in the VZ versions with 245 and 310 HP, the optional Dinamica fabric seats are available. For the 310 HP engine, Akrapovic exhaust terminals can be ordered, and the BeatsAudio system also debuts on e-Hybrid versions.
Moreover, it should present a massive change in aesthetics, with the front inherited from Tavascan.
2024 Cupra Leon
The compact sedan Cupra Leon starts the range, a very aggressive hot hatch also available in a wagon variant, which in turn features distinctive and very conspicuous wheels and other details.
The range has been simplified, with the VZ and VZ Carbon versions only being paired with engines with power exceeding 150 kW. Therefore, the 2.0 TSI with 245 HP remains, as well as the more powerful 300 HP version, and the PHEV versions with 204 and 245 HP. There will also be a new aesthetic design, particularly noticeable in the front.
2024 Cupra Born
The second new model from the brand (initially conceived as Seat El Born), the Cupra Born is also the first 100% electric vehicle, which does not sacrifice either its distinctly eye-catching and youthful aesthetics or its performance. Like the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4, it is based on the group’s MEB platform, but in this case, it is a very personalized model.
Cupra Born debuts with an electric motor with 204 HP and a 58 kWh battery, but the power reaches up to 231 HP with the e-Boost variant. No substantial changes for 2024, except for the two additional speakers in the rear of the cabin with a diameter of 168 mm.
2024 Cupra Ateca
The Ateca, the second and last model derived from Seat, also remains. It is a sporty SUV with typical Cupra elements: unique colors with quite conspicuous contrasting details.
For MY 2024, actually already introduced in the second part of 2023, the Ateca introduces new engines, the 1.5 TSI with 150 HP and the 2.0 TSI with 190 HP 4Drive, in addition to the existing 2.0 TSI with 300 HP, expanding the range downwards. Aesthetically, the novelties include new 19-inch alloy wheels, fill LED headlights, and a new diffuser. Inside, the Technology Pack debuts, which, even on the 150 HP engine, introduces the racing steering wheel with start button and drive mode selection.
Cupra Tavascan
On of our favs at eCar Expo Copenhagen, The real novelty of 2024 will be the Tavascan, an electric coupe SUV with a sleek and modern design, a break from the current design of all Cupra models.
As the second electric model from Cupra, it is also based on the evolved MEB platform of the Volkswagen group. It is the first electric SUV and also one of its most powerful models. It has a power of up to 340 HP, can be chosen with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, and has a range of up to 547 km.
Inside, it stands out for the new Cupra Connect, with a large 15” display combined with a fully digital dashboard. There are two versions: Endurance, with a rear motor of 286 HP and a range of 547 km; and VZ, with a dual motor of 340 HP and a range of 517 km.
Cupra Terramar
The second major novelty of 2024, about which little is known, is the Cupra Terramar, the latest new Cupra with an internal combustion engine.
The Terramar also features the new stylistic solutions introduced with Tavascan but is built on the MQB platform like the new Tiguan. It is the largest SUV in the entire Cupra lineup, measuring 4.5 meters, 12 cm longer than the Ateca and 5 cm more than the Formentor.
There is no information about the engines, but it is known that there will be a strong focus on plug-in hybrid variants with about 100 km of electric autonomy and possibly fast charging.
