The name Terramar harks back to the now-closed Spanish racetrack, Autódromo de Sitges-Terramar. However, the Cupra Terramar has little in common with a race car. It is a compact crossover that could be seen as a more family-friendly version of the Cupra Formentor.
Like the Formentor, the Terramar is a unique Cupra model that won’t have a twin sister among other VAG products. However, it is built on the familiar MQB platform, shared with vehicles like the Volkswagen Golf and the Formentor itself. When compared to another product from the sister brand SEAT, the Terramar is actually only 20 cm shorter than the larger Terraco.
Up to 272 hp and 100 km of Pure Electric Range
The Terramar offers a range of powertrains, from mild-hybrid petrol engines to a plug-in hybrid. The base engine is the familiar 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, while the more powerful 2.0-liter turbo also features in a sportier VZ version.
The fastest and most environmentally friendly engine is a new 1.5-liter turbo with over 272 hp, supported by a battery. It can drive up to 100 km on pure electric power and can fast-charge at up to 50 kW.
A smaller 204 hp plug-in hybrid is also available (though it may not be offered in the Danish market). Diesel is also a thing of the past for Cupra and will not be available for the Terramar.

Inside, the dashboard layout is reminiscent of the Volkswagen Tiguan, but with several Cupra-specific details that create a sportier and more premium feel. Technological highlights include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen with an illuminated touch slider, a head-up display, and a 12-speaker audio system from Sennheiser available as an option. The standard sports seats are upholstered in recycled textile or a combination of recycled textile and leather.
Externally, the car features a standard sports suspension that sits 10 mm lower than related models, with a greater front camber angle to improve handling. The SUV is also equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), standard progressive steering, an electric brake booster, and optional Akebono brakes for optimal braking performance.
The all-new Cupra Terramar will be produced alongside the Audi Q3 Sportback at the Györ plant in Hungary starting in 2024. Additionally, a limited edition called the Terramar America’s Cup special launch edition with unique styling cues will be produced in a limited run of only 1,337 units.
