Aiming for Records

With a design that looks straight out of a Need for Speed video game, the Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series is equipped with a new Performance package, crucial for achieving a sub-seven-minute lap at the Nürburgring.

The Performance package includes front dive planes, a larger splitter on the front fascia, underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system on the rear wing. These active aerodynamic elements reduce drag on straightaways without compromising aerodynamic grip in corners.

Additionally, the Performance package features a Lightweight package, which removes some sound-deadening materials and adds stunning 20-inch magnesium wheels, along with a unique front fascia.

The Chroma Flame paint, one of the six standard colors, took center stage at Le Mans. This deep burgundy shade pairs beautifully with the carbon fiber trim of the Mustang GTD Carbon Series, which highlights unpainted elements like the hood, roof, and rear Tech Deck, while the wheels (aluminum or magnesium) are finished in Magnetite.

Driver-Centric Interior

The interior of the Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series is premium and driver-focused. Standard features include Recaro seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel with carbon fiber inserts, and buttons to adjust suspension and exhaust modes, allowing the driver to stay focused on the road while tuning the car’s performance.

The 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters, with a lightweight hexagonal design for a secure grip, enable the driver to efficiently manage the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, making the most of the 800 horsepower from the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine.

The Mustang GTD’s software is powered by Unreal Engine technology, which manages the SYNC 4 infotainment system. This includes GTD-specific entry and exit graphics, as well as a reconfigurable digital gauge cluster with exclusive performance indicators.

Each drive mode features a Mustang GTD, and the new Performance gauge cluster places the gear indicator and tachometer front and center, stripping away all superfluous information.
