The latest entirely new version of the Transit Custom Nugget camper combines the latest vehicle with interior features that offer a more enjoyable on-the-road adventure experience. For the first time, Nugget enthusiasts can choose an advanced electrified powertrain with a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model.
The new generation of the Nugget benefits from Ford’s all-new vehicle platform, launched this year for the Transit and Tourneo family. This new platform introduces new design features, cutting-edge connectivity, and driving technologies.
All new Ford Transit Custom Nugget
An all-new chassis with independent rear suspension improves refinement and handling, while all-wheel drive models will be available to suit customers who use their camper vans to access remote areas for outdoor sports or who simply want more confidence when leaving festival car parks.
Special attention has been given to making the new Nugget safe and easy to drive, even for drivers more accustomed to smaller cars. In addition to a car-like driving position and a new eight-speed automatic transmission option, the Nugget features a suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering helps reduce fatigue on long highway drives or in stop-and-start traffic, while Reverse Brake Assist and a 360-degree camera system support drivers when maneuvering in tight spaces.
Westfalia interiors and premium finishes
The popular Ford model has been developed in collaboration with Westfalia, the leading camper converter company. The Nugget will thus feature the popular and unique multi-zone interior layout that continues to set it apart from competitors.
In the living space, campers can benefit from premium finishes, advanced features, and the power of the rooftop solar panel, available as an option to make adventures simpler and more enjoyable.
Ford and Westfalia have significantly increased the level of quality and ergonomic features in the new model, completely redesigning the living space around the popular layout with separate zones for cooking, living, and sleeping. This unique interior design allows campers to move around the cabin, cook, or get in and out of the vehicle without disturbing each other, even with two double beds set up.
The Transit Custom Nugget‘s seating area provides a safe and comfortable travel experience and easily converts into a dining and sleeping area when parked. Alongside optimised storage and high-quality materials, Ford has also packed in features including:
- Heated driver and front passenger’s rotating captain’s chairs
- Unique three-seat rear bench with optional heating enables five occupants to travel in comfort
- New audio speakers and USB-C ports as standard for passengers on the rear bench
An optimized kitchen with an L-shaped layout makes cooking more enjoyable. A practical new drawer fridge improves access to the contents and is spacious enough to store bottles upright. Combined with the new integrated hob and sink unit, now with standard hot water, the streamlined surface design offers 20% more dedicated workspace. Soft-close latches and pop-out handles protect children’s fingers and reduce noise during travel.
The all-new Nugget features key design improvements over the previous model, including a flip-up mattress section to increase headroom in the kitchen while the upper bed is still in place. Additionally, it has a track-mounted rear bench with new controls for easier one-handed adjustment. A rear-mounted hot/cold shower outlet is now standard, with an optional tailgate privacy tent.
The camping experience is further enhanced by all-new features including:
- Tilt roof with new self-folding fabric to simplify lowering the roof
- New integrated stowage locations for the standard outdoor table and chairs
- Practical roller blackout blinds replace curtains for enhanced privacy and simpler operation

New Transit Custom Nugget: availability
The new generation of the Ford Transit Custom Nugget will be available in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden in various phases.
The first orders for the Nugget Titanium series began in August 2023, with deliveries starting in spring 2024. Other models, including the PHEV version, will be introduced over the next 12 months.
