Do you remember the Ioniq 5 N? We judged it very positive, enhancing the wonderful job made by Hyundai to replicate the manual gear and to make a 2tons crossover agile and speedy on the track. But now, the Korean brand teases the Hyundai Insteroid, a videogame-inspired extreme version of the Inster which promises to be even better.
Read here our test drive of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
What can we expect from the Hyundai Insteroid
Described by Hyundai as “an Inster on steroids,” the name itself merges “Inster” with “steroid” to highlight the vehicle’s amplified emotional appeal. The concept car boasts a futuristic design with pixel-inspired LED lights, prominent air intakes around the wheel arches, 21-inch wheels, and a striking , giant ear spoiler accompanied by a diffuser.

The design heavily draws inspiration from video game aesthetics and digital culture, which Hyundai describes as a “glitch in the automotive matrix.” It is a car that appears to have driven straight out of an arcade game such as Need for Speed or Forza Horizon, embodying a bold and whimsical take on electric mobility rather than a production-ready vehicle.

The full reveal of the Insteroid concept is set for early April. While it is unlikely to reach production in its current form, it offers an intriguing glimpse into Hyundai’s daring and playful approach to the electric era. But also, it offers a view on the future N models, which will be all electric as the rest of the range.

The Hyundai Insteroid will be unveiled as Hyundai Inster N, and will be the third model to arrive in the new electric Hyundai N family, following the already mentioned Ioniq 5 N and the upcoming Ioniq 6 N, expected in late 2025 together with the facelifted Ioniq 6.
