Unveiled in the USA, it is specifically designed for off-road driving with a further refined look, but at the moment Hyundai has not intention to sell this car also in Europe.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT

The Ioniq 5 XRT features a raised suspension, lifted by 2.3 centimeters, and is equipped with all-terrain tires (235/60 R18) for better traction on uneven surfaces.

Additionally, the car sports enhanced protective elements around its bumpers and the lower part of the body, making it more resilient for off-road challenges.

This model improves the vehicle’s approach angle by 2 degrees, bringing it to 19.8°, and enhances the departure angle by 5 degrees to 30°. It also boasts fixed red tow hooks on the front bumper, which could prove invaluable in extreme off-road situations.

Off-Road-Ready Interior and Powertrain

Inside, the XRT variant features unique interior finishes that reflect its robust, off-road character. It’s powered by an upgraded 84 kWh battery, available with the 2025 model year, and comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.

While the XRT is set to hit the market in 2025, it won’t be available in Europe.

A Rally Dream in the Making?

What if you took the Ioniq 5 N’s incredible speed and performance, combined it with the off-road prowess of the XRT, and added Hyundai’s extensive rally experience? The result could be a rally-ready EV capable of competing in modern World Rally Championship events.

While this vision may seem speculative, it’s not far-fetched. Hyundai has already demonstrated its potential with electric rally cars in the past.

Back in 2021, the company unveiled an electric Kona rally car, developed by New Zealand rally driver Hayden Paddon in collaboration with Hyundai New Zealand, the University of Canterbury, and Yes Power. This vehicle, weighing 1,400 kg and producing 500 horsepower, proved its rally capabilities on various terrains, as showcased in videos from the time.
