Apple has officially launched its latest smartphone, the iPhone 16e, with a starting price of 5,499 DKK in Denmark. Unlike previous budget-friendly SE models, the iPhone 16e takes a significant step forward by eliminating the Home button and Touch ID, replacing them with Face ID and a notch display.

A familiar design with modern touches

The design of the iPhone 16e closely resembles the iPhone 14 from 2022, featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display. This marks a major improvement over past budget models that relied on LCD screens. The display also supports HDR and delivers brightness levels comparable to Apple’s more premium devices.

Under the hood, the iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s latest A18 chip, enabling Apple Intelligence – a suite of AI-powered tools. However, these features will not be available in Scandinavian countries at launch.

Another notable addition is the Action Button, which replaces the traditional mute switch, providing customizable functions for users. Additionally, Apple has finally moved away from the Lightning connector, equipping the iPhone 16e with a USB-C port, aligning it with MacBooks and iPads.

Enhanced camera and connectivity

The 48-megapixel rear camera brings significant improvements in image quality, especially in low-light conditions. This means that even Apple’s most affordable model now offers sharper, more detailed photos.

The iPhone 16e is also the first iPhone to feature an Apple-designed modem, promising improved network connectivity and potentially better battery life.

The iPhone 16e will be available in two colorsblack and white. The base model comes with 128GB of storage for 5,499 kroner, while the top-tier 512GB version is priced at 8,499 kroner.

Pre-orders open on February 21 at 14:00, and the first units will hit stores on February 28. For more details, visit Apple’s official website.
