Kia has unveiled two new high-performance electric vehicles, showcasing how the brand is raising the bar for EV innovation: the refreshed EV6 GT (we tested the first version here) and the larger EV9 GT (here our test of EV9).
Upgraded EV6 GT
Earlier this year, the EV6 received a facelift to remain competitive in the ever-evolving automotive industry. As part of this update, Kia introduces a new flagship EV6 GT model that elevates both performance and range.
At the heart of the upgraded EV6 GT lies a larger 84 kWh battery, replacing the previous 77 kWh unit. This improvement promises not only increased power but also an extended driving range, though official figures are yet to be released. With up to 654 hp and 770 Nm of torque, the new EV6 GT significantly outperforms its predecessor, which offered “only” 570 hp. Under normal conditions, the EV6 GT delivers 609 hp, with an additional 45 hp available temporarily via a boost function for peak performance.
Borrowing a feature from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the EV6 GT incorporates a “fake gear” system, simulating gear shifts for an enhanced driving experience, despite the vehicle’s gearless design.
Additionally, the EV6 GT continues to support 800-volt DC ultra-fast charging, minimizing downtime at charging stations.

EV9 GT: sportiness for 7 passengers
The all-new EV9 GT is Kia’s take on a luxurious seven-seater SUV, blending performance with comfort. As the brand’s largest and most powerful three-row SUV to date, the EV9 GT is poised to challenge competitors like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX—and outshine them in raw power.
The EV9 GT features dual electric motors delivering a combined 507 hp, with 216 hp powering the front wheels and 367 hp driving the rear. This setup enables the EV9 GT to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds—remarkable for a vehicle of this size.
The driving experience is further refined with electronically adjustable suspension, multiple drive modes, and an electronic limited-slip differential for enhanced cornering grip.
A lime-green GT button on the steering wheel unleashes the EV9 GT’s full potential, transforming it into a true performance SUV. While official range figures are still pending, the EV9 GT, like the EV6 GT, can charge from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes using a suitable DC fast charger.
Design and comfort with attitude
Both GT models feature unique aesthetic and functional enhancements. The EV6 GT and EV9 GT boast sporty details such as larger wheels, distinctive brake calipers, and premium interior materials like Alcantara.
With the introduction of the EV6 GT and EV9 GT, KIA demonstrates its readiness to redefine what’s possible in electric performance vehicles. Whether you’re seeking a fast, sporty crossover or a spacious, powerful SUV, KIA now offers a GT model to meet your needs. Both models are expected to arrive in Europe next year.
