In a shift from its previous strategy, Lynk & Co has announced the introduction of traditional dealerships in Europe, alongside the 12 Clubs opened over the past three years. This news came during the unveiling of their new electric model, the 02. Just a week after the announcement, Sweden saw the opening of the first Lynk & Co showroom, launched by Bildeve AB, a longtime Volvo dealer, which shared the news on LinkedIn.
From the renderings of the new dealership, it’s clear that the design echoes the brand’s existing Clubs and headquarters, with a sleek exterior dominated by black and high-contrast features.
Why Lynk & Co is opening dealerships
Bildeve AB, one of Sweden’s oldest dealerships, was founded in 1927. Its partnership with Lynk & Co began in 2021, initially covering services and maintenance, and later expanding to include the sale of used cars and rentals. This collaboration mirrors a broader trend within Volvo’s dealership network, as Lynk & Co has often utilized Volvo’s infrastructure for car storage and service support.
Nicolas Lopez Appelgren, Lynk & Co’s CEO since late 2023 and a former Volvo executive, explained the rationale behind this move during a press conference. He emphasized the need to rely on traditional dealerships to reach a wider customer base after the first three years of innovative, experimental approaches. While Lynk & Co initially focused on online sales and subscriptions, the shift to brick-and-mortar showrooms aligns with a strategy to cater to more conventional consumers.
For now, the dealerships offering Lynk & Co vehicles will be those where staff have already been trained in maintenance and service for the brand. Only after this phase will additional dealerships be added as needed. This strategic move suggests a broader expansion plan for Lynk & Co’s presence in Europe, further integrating its operations with established dealership networks.
