Lynk & Co is preparing to launch its latest electric vehicle, the Lynk & Co Z02, designed specifically for the European market. This new model is set to make its debut in October 2024, and it might take place in Milan, a strategic location as Italy is one of the brand’s most important European markets, the second after the Netherlands.

The Lynk & Co Z02 will be the brand’s second fully electric vehicle, following the Z10, and the first to be introduced in Europe. It could also represent the brand’s debut in Denmark and Norway, since Sweden is still the only Scandinavian market where Lynk & Co operates hand has its physical clubs (Gothenburg and Stockholm).

A Look at the New Lynk & Co Z02

The Z02 is built on Geely’s SEA2 platform, which is a smaller version of the SEA platform used for compact vehicles. This platform is shared with models like the Volvo EX30 and the Zeekr X (here our test drive), and it ensures the Z02 has strong design ties to these vehicles. However, the Z02 stands out as slightly larger, with a length of 4.46 meters compared to the Zeekr X’s 4.45 meters, and it boasts a wheelbase of 2.75 meters, making it the largest among its cousins.

Under the hood, the Z02 will launch with a single electric motor, delivering 250 kW (approximately 340 horsepower). This makes it slightly more powerful than the single-motor Zeekr X. While dual-motor versions are unlikely, Lynk & Co’s approach focuses on simplicity and a limited number of options to keep the purchasing process streamlined.

Key Features and Design

According to information from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Z02 will feature an LFP battery. The exact battery capacity has not been confirmed, but it won’t be the 66 kWh NCM battery found in the Zeekr X. For the Chinese market, buyers can choose between 18 or 19-inch wheels, although these options might not make it to Europe.

Stylistically, the Z02 adopts the new design language of Zeekr and Lynk & Co, with a boxy front end, slim LED headlights, and a clean, minimalist grille. The main headlights are integrated into the lower grille, while the side profile shows off a coupe-like silhouette with flush door handles. The rear is dynamic, featuring thin taillights framing the rear window.
