If the Cyberster was already a highly impactful concept car from the British brand, this year another vehicle is making headlines for SAIC Motor: the MG EXE181, unveiled directly by Carl Gotham, director of SAIC Design London Advanced.
The car was presented at the Beijing Auto Show and represents the group’s technology, as well as the brand’s history. And it pays tribute to the MG EX181, which set a speed record of 410.5 km/h in 1959, but in an electric key, as indicated by the second “E”.
The new design of the MG EXE181
The new concept car was created by the SAIC UK Design Centre with the aim of celebrating MG’s historical breakthrough in performance and efficiency.
A simple yet sophisticated, aerodynamic design that aims to push boundaries, creating an electric supercar with a top speed of 415 km/h.
The aerodynamic shapes of the car are not only aesthetic; they are also designed to reduce resistance and improve efficiency, reflecting MG’s commitment to innovation.
In addition to the design, the MG EXE181 is equipped with a high-performance electric system, including a centrally mounted semi-solid state battery and a high-speed electric motor.
The internal structure of the EXE181 is light and compact, with seats that pay homage to the original British Tartan design. The infotainment system is inspired by an aircraft cockpit, with a steering wheel display and a head-up display, enhancing the driving experience and focus while driving.
In addition to the Beijing Auto Show, the car will also be present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024.
