There’s something special about a MINI Cooper, especially when it comes as a Cabriolet – and luckily for us, it’s back in the form of the new MINI Cooper Cabriolet.
Unfortunately, the new Cooper Cabriolet will not come in an electric version. Some might remember the previous model, which was produced in very limited numbers – and with a price that could bring tears to your eyes. MINI quickly realized there wasn’t much demand for an electric Cabriolet.
However, the good news is that the new Cabriolet is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine delivering 163 hp and 250 Nm of torque.
For those looking to compete with the neighbor’s Mazda MX-5, the Cooper S version offers a more powerful 204 hp and 300 Nm from the same engine. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, only 0.3 seconds faster than the closed Cooper S. This might bring a smile to the neighbor’s face – but not for long, as the new John Cooper Works (JCW) version is set to be revealed soon.
Inside, significant changes have been made compared to the previous model, now featuring the high-tech setup found in the rest of the MINI lineup. The center console is dominated by a circular 9.4-inch OLED infotainment screen, while a head-up display makes up for the lack of a traditional instrument cluster.
The new Cooper Cabriolet will be produced in Oxford, England, and could be in your garage as early as January.
