The new Audi Q5 draws inspiration from the latest Audi A5, which is a compliment as the new design adds a touch of elegance to its signature sporty appearance. The new Audi Q5 has been completely revamped, both in style and technical foundation, while staying true to its combustion and hybrid engines, offering a solid dose of power.
Closely related to the A5, it’s already available in Germany, with prices starting at €52,300 for the 150 kW/204 HP TFSI version. Prices for Denmark, Sweden and Norway will be released in the following weeks.
The Third Generation of the Audi Q5
Introduced 15 years ago as the compact SUV market was emerging, the Audi Q5 has become one of the most popular SUVs in its segment and is the best-selling SUV in the lineup in many countries.
The new Q5 is the first SUV based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), just like the new A5. This highly flexible platform allows Audi to launch models with high technical standards across different segments. It offers versatility, enabling each model to have a unique character while maintaining high production volumes.
The new Audi Q5 stands out with an even sportier and more proportionate exterior design. The high, taut shoulder line creates a powerful silhouette, harmoniously connecting the front and rear lights, giving the vehicle a longer, more dynamic appearance. The front is confident, with a wide, elevated Singleframe grille, flanked by vertical air intakes that emphasize the SUV’s sporty look.
The Interior
The interior of the new Audi Q5 is designed to offer a driver-centered experience, with a strong focus on functionality and aesthetics. The “Digital Stage,” featuring Audi’s MMI displays, is the centerpiece of the cabin, seamlessly integrating OLED technology and offering a 14.5-inch panoramic MMI display. The layout is similar to the one introduced in the Q6 e-tron and also adopted by the A5.
The new “Material Driven Design” concept combines high-quality materials such as Kaskade fabric, made from recycled materials, and Dinamica, a sustainable microfiber reminiscent of suede. This approach not only enhances comfort but also allows for a high degree of personalization.
The new Q5 provides an excellent space and comfort experience. The rear seats are fully adjustable, allowing either for increased trunk volume or improved passenger comfort. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo volume can reach up to 1,473 liters. The cabin is also filled with practical solutions, like an expanded storage compartment under the central armrest and various smaller storage areas for everyday items. Charging options include an induction charging plate in the front center console and USB-C ports in both the front and rear, with up to 100-watt charging capacity for larger devices.
Powertrains for Everyone
All models of the new Audi Q5 are equipped with “MHEV plus” technology, using a 48-volt system to support the internal combustion engine, reducing CO2 emissions while improving both performance and driving comfort. The initial range of engines includes the 204 HP 2.0 TFSI, the 204 HP 2.0 TDI, and the powerful V6 TFSI in the SQ5, capable of delivering 370 HP.
The MHEV plus technology also allows for electric maneuvering and parking over short distances, enhancing the vehicle’s overall efficiency. Plug-in hybrid variants, designed for those needing power but also lower consumption and accessibility in urban areas, are expected in the coming months.
The new Audi Q5 is equipped with a wide range of driver assistance systems designed to enhance road safety and make daily driving easier. Among these is the Adaptive Driving Assistant plus package, which uses high-resolution data and swarm information from other vehicles to optimize traffic sign recognition and support automated driving.
The Q5’s lighting system is state-of-the-art, featuring Matrix LED headlights with customizable light signatures and second-generation digital OLED rear lights. These not only improve visibility but also communicate with the surrounding environment to warn of potential hazards, such as accidents or breakdowns.
