The yearly Car of the Year in Denmark 2025 award (Årets Bil) was recently announced at the Haaning Collection in Bagsværd Denmark. Nine finalists competed for the coveted title in an event that reflects the growing focus on electric vehicles. Last year, BMW claimed their first-ever win with the electric i5, and this year’s lineup was exclusively made up of EVs. Like the name of the winner, the Kia EV3.
The nine finalists showcased a wide range of options, including the Chinese XPENG G6, Ford’s take on an ID.4 rival with the Explorer, the compact Hyundai Inster, the sporty Cupra Tavascan, the luxurious Polestar 4, Europe’s Car of the Year Renault Scenic, the Skoda Elroq, Peugeot e-3008, and finally, the Kia EV3.
A tight race between four contenders
The selection was made by a jury of 20 experienced automotive journalists who have been naming Denmark’s Car of the Year annually since 1969.
This year’s competition was particularly intense, with four models emerging as the top contenders: Ford Explorer, Kia EV3, Skoda Elroq, and Renault Scenic. In the end, the Kia EV3 claimed the title, edging out the Skoda Elroq by just three points. The Renault Scenic secured third place, followed closely by the compact Hyundai Inster.
This marks the first time Kia has won the Car of the Year title in Denmark. However, the brand previously received recognition when the Kia Cee’d was named Used Car of the Year in 2021(Årets brugt bil 2021).
The Kia EV3 stands out for its combination of value and advanced technology. With a starting price of DKK 270,000, a 7-year warranty, and a range of up to 435 km, it is a strong contender in its segment. The EV3 also supports fast charging, making it an appealing choice for Danish EV buyers.
We look forward to testing the Kia EV3 later this year and sharing our impressions with you
