Kiacontinues to expand its electric lineup, and we’ve just had the chance to preview their latest addition in Denmark. The all-new Kia EV4. Arriving as both a sedan and a hatchback, the EV4 is set to compete in the popular compact segment, going head-to-head with models like the Volkswagen ID.3, Renault Megane e-tech and MG4 (our test drive here).

But make no mistake. Despite being positioned as a compact EV, the EV4 feels anything but small in real life. Compared to the old fossil fueled Kia Ceed, EV4 is a lot bigger!

A surprising sense of space

Seeing the EV4 up close, we were struck by how large and substantial the car looks in person. Compared to the Kia Ceed, the EV4 offers noticeably more room and presence. Both the sedan and hatchback variants share a design language that’s sharp, futuristic, and distinctly Kia, but with proportions that suggest more interior space than the photos might reveal.

Kia has officially confirmed that the EV4 will be built on the brand’s E-GMP platform, the same architecture underpinning models like the EV6 (our test drive here) and EV9 (our test drive here). This means fast charging capabilities, modern battery tech, and a focus on both performance and efficiency.

So far, KIA has revealed the following key specs:

  • Range: Up to 500 km (WLTP) depending on the variant
  • Battery options: Expected to include both standard and long-range versions
  • Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive as standard, with a dual-motor AWD version likely to follow

Designed for everyday life

It’s clear that the EV4 isn’t just chasing bold design or big numbers. This is a car aimed squarely at everyday life with plenty of interior space, practical storage, and technology that supports daily commuting, longer drives, and family life.

We’ll be getting behind the wheel as soon as the EV4 arrives in Denmark for test drives, but if the early impression is anything to go by, Kia might just have another hit on their hands.

Stay tuned for more detailed coverage once we drive it.
