At Kenshiki Forum, in addition to showcasing concept cars and visions of the future, also featured the new generation of the Toyota Land Cruiser, an iconic model for the brand, undergoing a radical transformation.

A return to the past in terms of aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the Toyota BJ over 70 years ago, but a forward-looking approach in terms of technology. The vehicle is currently available for online reservations to secure the model at its anticipated debut in the third quarter of 2024. The initial available versions are the Prestige, Exclusive, and the First Edition, the latter exclusively available online. Other configurations will be made available in the near future, waiting for the electric version.

Maybe the best Toyota Land Cruiser ever

The new Toyota Land Cruiser is built on an entirely new platform, Toyota’s GA-F, significantly improving off-road capabilities. Overall rigidity has increased by 30%, with the chassis experiencing the most substantial improvement at 50% compared to the previous generation, benefiting responsiveness and driving comfort.

The new vintage-inspired design, with square shapes, pays homage to the Toyota BJ of the past. The front features a slim grille with spaced-out Toyota badge. The headlights are full LED, square-shaped, while the rear has a slightly more intricate design, also LED, making a visual impact.

Technically, in addition to the chassis, the suspensions have been improved. They boast a new design allowing for greater wheel articulation, with stylistic details designed to tackle more challenging terrains. Furthermore, it is the first Land Cruiser equipped with electric steering, reducing feedback on rough surfaces for smoother performance and improved maneuverability.

Off-road like never before

The Land Cruiser comes equipped with all the necessary features for excellent off-road performance, including Crawl Control, a lockable differential, and a combination of Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitor to assist the driver in tackling more challenging terrains. The goal is to maintain high comfort levels, regardless of the external environment.

Moreover, the Exclusive and First Edition versions have additional technical features, such as Toyota’s new Stabiliser Disconnection Mechanism, which alters the state of the front anti-roll bar to enhance drivability on uneven roads, ensuring comfort and maneuverability. Other equipment includes 20-inch wheels, a digital rearview mirror, and a head-up display.

These are complemented by the latest-generation ADAS Toyota Safety Sense, featuring Front Cross Traffic, Blind Spot Monitor, and various selectable driving modes.

A new infotainment

Inside the new Toyota Land Cruiser, one can perceive the technological evolution. The quality is evident, and there is ample space even for taller individuals. Numerous storage compartments are available, as well as handles for passengers to grip during off-road excursions.

The new dashboard layout stands out, featuring a digital cluster, head-up display, and a touch screen with updated infotainment, similar to that seen in the Toyota C-HR, functioning smoothly and wirelessly compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, there is the premium JBL audio system with 14 speakers.

The First Edition version externally features a two-tone Sand or Smoky Blue paint, while the interior boasts special seat stitching. In all versions, the Land Cruiser is available with 5 or 7 seats.

Engines for Europe

The Toyota Land Cruiser offers specific engines for Western Europe, starting with the 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine delivering 204 HP paired with an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission, providing the power needed to tow loads up to 3.5 tons.

From 2025, a version with 48-volt hybrid technology will also be available, still featuring the 2.8-liter diesel engine.
