Nissan has unveiled its ambitious roadmap for the European market, set to unfold between 2025 and 2026. The automaker is set to introduce a series of new models, including the third-generation Leaf, an updated e-Power system for the Qashqai, and the highly anticipated electric Micra. Looking ahead to 2026, the lineup will further expand with the debut of the fully electric Juke.

A Strategic Shift in Electrification

While Nissan has faced challenges in North America due to a delayed adoption of hybrid technology, the company is making moves to catch up. In an effort to recover lost ground, Nissan will introduce both a plug-in hybrid and an e-Power version of the Rogue, known as the X-Trail in Europe.

However, the real excitement lies in Nissan’s plans for Europe. The automaker has announced four major updates that will shape its future presence on the continent.

Upgraded e-Power for the Qashqai

The Qashqai and X-Trail models, both equipped with Nissan’s unique e-Power system, have already achieved 250,000 sales in Europe. This innovative drivetrain relies on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that functions solely as a generator, providing energy to the battery while ensuring an electric driving experience.

Now, Nissan is rolling out an upgraded version of the system, improving fuel efficiency by 15% at high speeds and reducing noise and vibrations for a smoother ride.

The 3rd generation Nissan Leaf – the crossover era

One of the most anticipated launches is the third-generation Nissan Leaf, which has undergone a dramatic transformation. No longer a traditional compact hatchback, the Leaf has evolved into a crossover, built on the CMF-EV platform shared with the Nissan Ariya and developed in partnership with Renault.

The new model is expected to offer an impressive real-world driving range of approximately 600 km, although official figures have yet to be confirmed.

The new electric, Renault 5-based Nissan Micra

At the other end of the spectrum, Nissan is set to introduce the all-electric Micra by the end of 2025. This compact city car will be produced in Renault’s Douai plant in France and will share its underpinnings with the Renault 5 E-Tech.

Sporting a design reminiscent of the third-generation Micra, complete with signature oval headlights, the new model will offer two battery options—40 kWh and 50 kWh—providing a range of up to 400 km. Measuring around 3.90 meters in length, the electric Micra will remain a competitive option in the A-segment.

Nissan Juke goes electric

As Nissan continues to push forward with its electrification strategy, 2026 will see the introduction of the all-electric Juke. Unlike the existing internal combustion and hybrid versions, the electric Juke will showcase a completely new design inspired by the Hyper Punk concept unveiled at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Show. The teaser images suggest a futuristic aesthetic with angular lines, hexagonal headlights, and LED accents integrated into the grille and hood creases.

Built on the same platform as the new Leaf, the electric Juke is expected to surpass the size of its gasoline-powered counterpart, potentially exceeding 4.30 meters in length. This places it in a higher segment, offering a more spacious and technologically advanced alternative to the traditional Juke.
