If you read my reviews of OnePlus 12 and Nord 4, you know I don’t understand why the Nord 4 seems the real flagship of the Chinese brand in terms of design. But OnePlus, in China, has officially revealed the design of the next OnePlus 13, which is much better in that sense.
OnePlus decided to show the design to increase expectations, and to understand the reactions of its fans. Let’s explore what’s new is coming.
OnePlus 13 comes with a lot of news
At launch, the OnePlus 13 will come in three color variants:
- White Dawn, featuring Silk Glass construction
- Blue Moment, with a leather-like BabySkin texture
- Obsidian Secret, which mimics the look of wood
On the front, the phone will sport slightly curved glass on all four sides, while the rear design prominently displays a square camera module. As with previous models, the Hasselblad logo is present, reflecting the continued collaboration between the two companies for the camera system. The rear camera setup includes three sensors arranged at the corners of a square, with a fourth spot occupied by a flash.
It seems also we can say finally goodbye to the curved display.
Display and performance
One of the standout features of the OnePlus 13 is its BOE Oriental Screen X2. This display boasts a 2K resolution, OLED 8T LTPO technology, and a 120 Hz refresh rate, promising an immersive and smooth visual experience. OnePlus has also incorporated super ceramic glass for added durability and improved eye protection. The display will also have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and slightly curved edges for a sleek appearance.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 13 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (or possibly Snapdragon 8 Gen 4), a chipset that has already impressed in early benchmark tests. The base model will likely come with 16 GB of RAM, marking an increase from the 12 GB found in the OnePlus 12. The decision to boost the base RAM configuration stems from the increased demands of local artificial intelligence processing.
Camera and battery
The OnePlus 13 will feature a triple-camera system on the back, still in collaboration with Hasselblad:
- A 50 MP wide-angle main camera with a Sony LYT-808 sensor
- A 50 MP ultra-wide camera using a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor
- A 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with a Sony LYT-600 sensor, offering 3x optical zoom
In terms of battery life, the OnePlus 13 is equipped with a massive 6,000 mAh battery. Charging options include 100 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging, ensuring quick and convenient power top-ups. The device will also have IP68 water and dust resistance, making it durable for various conditions.
