Renault promised it, and now it has arrived. The Renault Megane E-Tech 2025, the first electric model of the so-called Renaulution, is getting an update three years after its launch. The refresh includes the new Esprit Alpine trim, now available across Renault’s lineup, along with enhanced technology. Notable additions include One-Pedal Drive and Plug & Charge, which enables charging simply by plugging the connector into the socket—eliminating the need for an app or card.

Renault Megane E-Tech 2025: what’s new

The Esprit Alpine trim stands out with sporty aesthetic features. The body is now available in the new Satin Schist Grey, which also accents the front and rear bumper blades. The 20-inch black alloy wheels complement Renault’s glossy black badge, as well as the rear monogram. The side window trims feature the same glossy black finish, while the Esprit Alpine badge on the left front fender serves as a signature detail for this trim.

Sporty elements continue inside. The wraparound seats are upholstered in embossed black fabric with blue stitching, reminiscent of racing shoes. This fabric is made from recycled materials, such as plastic bottles and seat belts, highlighting Renault’s commitment to sustainability.

A tricolor emblem inside the cabin symbolizes the connection between Renault and Alpine. The dashboard, armrests, and center console are covered in black TEP with blue stitching, while black and blue accents refine the interior ambiance.

One-Pedal Drive, 11 to 22 kW Charger, and Plug & Charge

The tech updates are substantial. The One-Pedal Drive feature adds a fifth level of regeneration. Developed by Ampere, this technology allows drivers to control both acceleration and braking with a single pedal, providing several advantages:

  • Reduced brake pad wear
  • Increased range through energy recovery
  • A smoother driving experience, especially in urban settings

The One-Pedal Drive will also be available as a software update for Megane E-Tech Electric models produced after March 2024.

The Megane E-Tech Electric Esprit Alpine comes with a standard 11 kW bidirectional AC charger, with an optional 22 kW charger. Thanks to its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, the system can power external devices—such as a coffee machine or an electric scooter—using the car’s stored battery energy.

To further simplify DC fast charging, the model is compatible with Plug & Charge, integrated into the Mobilize charge pass. This feature eliminates the need for a physical card or credit card—simply plug the car into a charging station, and charging starts automatically, with billing handled through the My Renault app.
