As usual during the Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Series introducing the brand new Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25, with the aim to set a new standard for what AI-powered smartphones can achieve. The Samsung Galaxy S25 series promises to deliver the most natural and intuitive mobile experience ever, thanks to advanced multimodal AI tools that redefine how users interact with their devices and the world around them.
And we can’t wait to test it. Let’s explore what’s new.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Series: finally with Snapdragon!
At the heart of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform (thanks, Samsung). This processor elevates on-device AI capabilities, offering enhanced computational photography powered by the next-generation ProVisual Engine.
The 3 smartphones are equipped with the new One UI 7, which is made to understand user context, offering personalized AI experiences while ensuring robust privacy. With support for multimodal interactions, the series can process text, voice, images, and video for seamless interactions. Enhanced Google integrations allow users to recognize and act on screen content—such as phone numbers, emails, or URLs—with a single touch.
Key features include:
- Context-aware operational searches and next-step suggestions.
- Advanced natural language processing for easier daily interactions.
- Gemini, a cross-app assistant activated via the side button, streamlining tasks across Samsung, Google, and third-party apps like Spotify.
Samsung’s Personal Data Engine enables AI features that securely analyze user data for tailored experiences while keeping privacy at the forefront. Highlights include:
- Now Brief, which proactively offers suggestions on the lock screen.
- Private data encryption stored securely in the Knox Vault.
- Post-quantum encryption for protection against emerging cyber threats.
One UI 7 also introduces new privacy controls, including a Max Restrictions mode and a fortified Knox Matrix dashboard for monitoring device security.
Made for creativity and gaming
The Snapdragon 8 Elite processor delivers a 40% boost in NPU performance, 37% in CPU, and 30% in GPU compared to its predecessor. The smartphones also include a ProScaler technology for a 40% improvement in image upscaling quality, a Vulkan Engine and enhanced Ray Tracing for fluid, realistic gaming experiences and an advanced thermal management with a larger vapor chamber and custom thermal interface materials.
Talking about cameras, the new Galaxy S25 features a 50MP ultrawide sensor, a default 10-bit HDR video recording for better colours and enhanced low-light perormance with noise reduction.
Editing tools such as Regola Audio, which isolates specific sound categories, and a DSLR-like Virtual Aperture control in Expert RAW mode make professional-grade editing accessible to all users.
Sustainable design and durability
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is the sleekest, lightest, and most durable Galaxy S series phone yet, featuring:
- Titanium construction and Corning Gorilla Armor 2 for superior drop and scratch resistance.
- Recycled materials in the metal frame and batteries, including 50% recycled cobalt from old devices.
The series guarantees longevity with seven years of OS and security updates and introduces Galaxy Club, a subscription model for flexible device upgrades.
