Stellantis e-Routes is the new app launched by the Italian-French group, inspired by the success of third-party apps like Chargemap and Octopus Electroverse. It is designed to simplify journeys for electric vehicle owners by optimizing trip planning, including stops.

The app is being gradually implemented into the infotainment systems of the group’s latest electric models, starting with the newest Citroëns (where it has been available since October), and then extending to Peugeot, DS Automobiles, and Opel/Vauxhall. Over the summer, it will also be available on the Fiat 600, Fiat Professional e-Scudo and e-Doblò, Alfa Romeo Junior, Jeep Avenger, and Lancia Ypsilon. It is unclear if it will be implemented on the electric Fiat 500.

To use the app, the Stellantis vehicle must be equipped with Connect Plus, a package available with a trial period and included in the vehicle’s price, varying by brand. After the trial period, a subscription is required to continue using the features: the monthly cost is €4, and the annual cost is €40.

How Stellantis e-Routes Works

The app was initially designed for electric vehicle owners without a navigation system, but it has now been extended to all users. It provides an intelligent and personalized planning experience by utilizing vehicle data such as battery charge level, capacity, and temperature, offering updated directions, possible stops, and the best charging stations along the route. This is similar to what Google Maps does with Android Automotive systems in some Renault, Volvo, and Polestar cars.

The app can be downloaded onto a smartphone and then activated via CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing it to be used directly on the central screen as a navigation system. Additionally, like other apps, e-Routes remembers preferences regarding the desired charge level upon arrival, types of connectors, power, and other settings.

If the driver travels at a speed higher than suggested, the app can inform them of new route options considering the new data, possibly adjusting the number of stops needed.
