Suzuki introduces its first electric vehicle for the European market: the Suzuki eVitara, an electric version of the popular Vitara, developed in collaboration with Toyota. This marks a significant milestone for Suzuki as the brand finally steps into the electric vehicle market.
Suzuki enters the electric era with the new Suzuki eVitara
With a length of 4,275 mm and a width of 1,800 mm, the eVitara places itself among strong competitors like the Kia EV3 (our preview here), Volvo EX30, and Škoda Elroq. This compact crossover targets a rapidly growing market in Europe.
The eVitara is built on Suzuki’s Heartect-e platform, designed with a focus on spaciousness and optimized battery placement. By positioning the battery as low as possible, both space utilization and stability are enhanced.
The cabin marks a significant step forward for Suzuki, showcasing clear influences from Toyota.
The eVitara features an innovative dual-screen setup that combines a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single, cohesive display – a feature that elevates both comfort and the cabin’s modern appeal.
Two battery options and range up to 500 km
The standard version of the eVitara is equipped with front-wheel drive, but for those seeking additional traction, Suzuki offers the AllGrip all-wheel-drive system. The 4WD version also boasts an ground clearance of 18 mm, making the eVitara unique in its class.
The eVitara offers two battery sizes. The base model comes with a 49 kWh battery, delivering 144 hp and up to 400 km of range. Alternatively, a larger 64 kWh battery option provides 174 hp and a range of up to 500 km. The 4WD version with the larger battery adds an extra electric motor on the rear axle, increasing total output to 184 hp and 300 Nm. Additionally, the eVitara supports charging up to 120 kW, which, while not class-leading, allows for shorter charging stops.
The new Suzuki eVitara is expected to arrive at Danish and european dealerships by the summer, offering Suzuki fans an exciting new electric option in the compact SUV segment.
