It’s clear that 2025 is the year when “electric cars for everyone”—or at least those with somewhat more accessible prices, considering inflation and the current socio-economic context—are ready. And the Kia EV2 will be one of them.

If Kia already hit the mark with the EV3, which offers 600 km of range for an interesting price, the EV2 will be Kia’s answer to the Grande Panda, e-C3, and Renault 5, as well as its fellow South Korean competitor, the Hyundai Inster. Here’s what we know about Kia’s new city car, which will be unveiled on February 27 during the Kia Battery Day, where the brand will also present the Kia EV4 and Kia PV5, the first model in its new lineup of electric LCVs.

Kia EV2: everything we know

The Kia EV2 will be positioned in the sub-€30,000 price range (200,000 DKK), making it an alternative to upcoming models like the Renault 4 E-Tech. While technical details remain scarce, the first teaser images suggest that the car will adopt a design inspired by the larger EVX series models, featuring a distinctive front grille and slim headlights.

The wheel-at-the-corners layout should ensure a spacious cabin despite its compact dimensions. In terms of performance, it could share similarities with the Hyundai Inster—perhaps in its more powerful configuration: a 115-hp single electric motor and a 49-kWh battery, at least in the base version.

A larger battery option isn’t out of the question, though it depends on the platform it will be built on. It could share Hyundai Inster’s platform or use a shortened version of Kia’s E-GMP architecture, which underpins other Kia EV models.

Kia EV4 and PV5

Kia Battery Day won’t just be about the EV2. The Korean brand has announced that the event will also feature the debut of the Kia EV4 and the PV5 electric commercial vehicle. Unlike the EV2, which will be introduced as a concept, both the EV4 and PV5 are expected to be near-production models with detailed technical specifications.

The Kia EV4, in particular, is an electric sedan that was first shown as a concept in October 2023. Built on the E-GMP platform—the same one used for the Kia EV6 and EV9—the EV4 will benefit from 800V technology, ensuring ultra-fast charging times.
