The Swedish automaker has launched European production of the EX30 and unveiled its two key releases for the year: the Volvo EX30 Cross Country, set to debut in February as the off-road-oriented version of the B-SUV, and the ES90, Volvo’s first all-electric sedan.

The Return of Cross Country

The arrival of the EX30 Cross Country has been anticipated since the global launch of the standard EX30, which took place in Milan. At the event, a rugged concept car previewed this adventurous variant.

This model marks the revival of the Cross Country badge, last seen on the V60 Cross Country, and also introduces electrification to Volvo’s adventure-ready lineup for the first time. Performance-wise, the EX30 Cross Country is expected to share its specifications with the most powerful version of the EX30, featuring dual electric motors. However, its suspension will be raised and specifically tuned for light off-road use.

The ES90

The ES90 had also been teased during the XC90 facelift announcement. It represents the brand’s first electric sedan and will likely coexist with the S90/V90, much like the XC90/EX90 pairing.

This fully Volvo-designed model will be built on the updated SPA platform, the same foundation as the two seven-seater SUVs. The ES90 is expected to boast sleek lines and a promised range of up to 700 km. Like the EX90, it will support V2X technology, allowing the vehicle to act as an energy source for the public grid, and feature ultra-fast charging capabilities.

New prices in Denmark

The new year also brings updated pricing for several existing models in the Danish market. The Volvo EX30 now starts at 265,100 DKK for the Single Motor Core version, while the Twin Motor Performance variant has a new price of 352,100 DKK.

Volvo EX30 becomes european

Another highlight for 2025 is the start of production for the Volvo EX30 at the brand’s factory in Ghent, Belgium.

Established in 1965, the Ghent facility has been a cornerstone of Volvo’s manufacturing, producing millions of cars over the decades. Currently home to the EX40 and EC40 production lines, it will soon welcome the smaller EX30, further cementing the factory’s role in Volvo’s electric future.
