Volvo’s commitment to electrification is well-known: the brand announced its departure from diesel long before the EU’s deadline, and was one of the first brands to announce its transformation into a producer of exclusively electric cars.
The Swedish car maker has now decided to invest further in charging infrastructure by enhancing its offering of public charging services for customers not only in Scandinavia, but throughout Europe where the brand started to invest more than a year ago with its first Fast Charge Station in Milan, Italy (see the feature image). The renewed charging network will also be accompanied by new features, available on the Volvo Cars app.
More charging point to travel Europe
The automotive company’s project was conceived and implemented “hand in hand” with Digital Charging Solutions, an electromobility company, which will assist Volvo customers with an optimized service available to European customers by the end of November.
Owners of the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge and all owners of future Volvo electric models, such as the EX90 and EX30, will have access to an extended network made by:
- Over 1,000 different charging operators
- More than 590,000 public charging points
- Across 30 European countries.
Among the new features available on the charging application are Plug & Charge (available for the EX90, allowing access to charging without transactions), remote charging control, monthly billing for business customers, enabling the creation of a business account for VAT and billing purposes, and finally, new subscription offers (very interesting, as several charging operators are abandoning the subscription system)
