Geely, the Chinese automotive giant, continues to push boundaries with its latest unveiling at the Beijing Auto Show. Just months after the launch of the Zeekr 007, they have introduced yet another innovative model to the Zeekr family: the Zeekr MIX. This compact minivan incorporates elements from its predecessors while being specifically tailored for the European market, set to make its debut in 2025.
The Zeekr MIX, showcased alongside an even more exclusive version of the Zeekr 009 featuring an oversized internal screen exceeding 50 inches, is a testament to Geely’s commitment to innovation and adaptability in the ever-evolving automotive industry.
Why Zeekr MIX?
One of the intriguing aspects of the Zeekr MIX is its nomenclature. The name seems to blend two concepts: “mix,” hinting at its design fusion between a crossover and a minivan, and the conspicuous use of Roman numerals, possibly alluding to “1009,” making it the first car to feature a “1” at the beginning of its name while maintaining a concise three-character nomenclature. This naming convention follows the trend set by the Zeekr X, which was launched after the 009.
Visually, the Zeekr MIX draws inspiration from the sleek design language of the Zeekr 007 and the autonomous vehicle developed for Waymo. Sporting a luminous bar spanning the front grille controlled by 75 high-power chips and slender headlights, the MIX exudes a futuristic appeal. The front end, mostly enclosed except for thick black air intakes at the bottom, mirrors the design cues of the Zeekr 007.
Black pillars and inserts contribute to the MIX’s floating roof effect, adding a touch of sophistication to its exterior profile. At the rear, the simplicity of design echoes the front, while the interior exudes luxury and brightness.
The seats are not only plush and adjustable but also capable of reclining and rotating to optimize comfort whether the vehicle is in motion or stationary. The choice of materials, including leather, velvet-like fabric, metal, and wood, enhances the premium feel of the cabin.
The ample space for both passengers and cargo, facilitated by versatile seating configurations and numerous storage compartments, underscores the MIX’s practicality. Additionally, features like the sliding central tunnel and doors emphasize convenience, while the central touchscreen display remains a hallmark feature across all Zeekr models.
Geely’s SEA-M platform
Underpinning the Zeekr MIX is the new SEA-M architecture, an evolution of the SEA platform utilized in previous models like the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X. Designed to deliver exceptional space efficiency, safety, and agility, SEA-M supports a wide range of applications, including robotaxis and commercial vehicles, and introduces technical innovations like steer-by-wire technology.
